CSR, Sustainability and Community Work at Zhengyang

How Zhengyang Packaging reduces environmental impact, supports local education, and builds a responsible supply chain for international buyers.

Packaging manufacturing can be resource-intensive. We accept that responsibility and have built a CSR program around three pillars: environmental control, community support and ethical employment. Here is what we actually do — not what we plan to do.

Environmental control: reducing waste at the source

Our environmental controls are built into daily operations, not just documentation.

Material efficiency

We optimize every sheet. Before a production run, our pre-press team arranges die layouts to minimize offcut waste. For high-volume orders, even a 2% material saving translates into thousands of dollars and fewer trees.

Waste separation and recycling

Our shop floor separates waste into four streams:

Waste type How we handle it
Paper offcuts Sent to licensed recyclers for pulping
Plastic film (BOPP, PET) Collected and returned to material suppliers
Metal dies and plates Stored, reused or recycled
Hazardous waste (UV ink residues, solvents) Disposed through certified hazardous-waste contractors

FSC-certified materials

Since receiving FSC Chain of Custody certification in July 2025, we have been able to offer FSC-labelled paper and board. For buyers, this means retail packaging can carry the FSC logo and support deforestation-free supply chain claims.

Community work: the Sunshine Public Welfare program

We call our CSR initiative “Sunshine Public Welfare” (阳光公益). It focuses on education support for children in underdeveloped areas.

What the program includes:

  • Student sponsorship: We cover tuition and living expenses for a number of students each year.
  • School supply donations: Books, stationery and winter clothing are donated before each school term.
  • Breakfast charity events: Employees participate in fundraising breakfasts; the company matches employee contributions.

These activities are not marketing campaigns. They are organized by our own staff, often on weekends, and have continued for multiple years.

Ethical employment and workplace standards

Our Disney authorization and regular client audits require us to maintain fair labor practices. This is what that looks like in practice:

Standard Our practice
Working hours Compliance with local labor law; overtime is voluntary and paid
Wages Above local minimum wage; skilled operators earn premium rates
Safety PPE provided; annual fire drills; first-aid training for supervisors
Dormitories Clean, air-conditioned rooms for employees who live on-site

Maintaining these standards shows buyers that our supply chain meets the social expectations of large retailers and licensed brands.

Sustainability for buyers: what you can request

If your brand has sustainability goals, we can support them with concrete options:

  • FSC-certified paper for boxes, tags and bags
  • Recycled-content board (subject to availability and MOQ)
  • Water-based inks and coatings to reduce VOC emissions
  • Mono-material designs that are easier to recycle
  • Right-sized packaging to reduce shipping volume and carbon footprint

Why CSR matters to B2B buyers

Corporate responsibility is no longer a “nice to have” for packaging suppliers. It directly affects:

  • Retail acceptance: Many retailers require suppliers to pass social and environmental audits.
  • Brand reputation: End consumers increasingly expect transparency about supply chain ethics.
  • Risk management: A factory with documented CSR practices is less likely to face shutdowns, strikes or compliance failures.

When you choose Zhengyang Packaging, you are choosing a supplier that treats sustainability and social responsibility as operational requirements, not marketing slogans.
